News about the Karen center in Khun Yuam

Here is some pictures of the site which Faa lang fon will make into a center for the Karen people in Khun Yuam city. It's almost 6 rai (1 rai= 1600 sqm) and like you can see in the picture above, its quite beautiful there. We just started to build a house where poor children from the mountain can stay while they go to secondary and high school in Khun Yuam. We hope we soon can offer 40 children a place to stay while they are studing. The house will be built using bamboo and earth. This time the local people will help each other to build the house. They will do it for free, Faa lang fon will only pay for the traveling and food. We also plan to build a office for Faa lang fon, where it is possible for Be to stay while he is there, a house where pepole from the mountain can stay when they goes to the doctor in the city, have to run errands there etc, a house where volunteers can stay while they teaching english and computers for the children, a museum and a shop where the Kareen people can sell their work. We don't have much money so we will do it step by step.

Her kommer noen bilder fra tomten som etter planen skal bli et senter for Karenfolket i byen Khun Yuam. Den er på nesten 6 rai (1 rai er 1600 sqm). Den første bygningen vi vil bygge er et skoleinternat hvor fattige barn fra fjellet kan bo mens de går på ungdomskole og vidergående skole der. Internatet vil bli bygget av bambus og jord og det skal bygges på dugnad av de lokale. Vi håper vi snart kan tilby 40 barn en plass å bo mens de går på skole. Vi ønsker også å bygge et kontor der for Faa lang fon, hvor Be kan overnatte når han er der, et hus hvor menneskene fra fjellene kan overnatte når de er i byen for å gå til lege eller har andre ærend i byen, et hus hvor voluntører som ønsker å jobbe for Faa lang fon kan bo i (undevise barn på internatet i engelsk og data), et museum og en butikk hvor de kan selge ting de lager. Vi har ikke mye penger så vi vil gjøre litt om litt.

This is a picture of the site. They made a small road on it.Here they started to make bricks out of mud.Here they prepare to make mud into bricks.This is the first building on the site, a place where the workers can stay when they work at the site. Later it will be the place for the children to eat.This girl missed her father so much, so she came to the site and stayed there for some days.
They have to bring all the wood and bamboo from the mountains. They don't sell any wood in the city.
